Thom van Rijckevorsel creates images under construction: processes on their way to becoming an image. His work consists of video, sculpture, drawing and installations. With constant sketching, erasing, sawing and videotaping he scrutinises the way the image relates to material reality.

His video works show recognisable actions, such as kneading clay, bending a piece of rubber, smearing paint over two hands. Demonstrations of how something is manipulated. Easy to understand, without knowing exactly what you are understanding. He is interested in the space that arises when the physical and the easily manipulated digital are intertwined. This makes his work both tangible and elusive.
